Choir Director

Part-Time

(10-12 hours per week)






Responsibilities:

Developing a strong traditional music program

Direct the Chancel Choir and work with organist and pianist in rehearsal

Select musical pieces in advance and prepare choir for all music including introits, anthems and prayer and benediction responses

Rehearse Chancel Choir with selected hymns

Train choir members in vocal and choral techniques, appreciation of sacred choral music

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Music or related field preferred(equivalent experience will be considered)

Applicants will audition

Vocal training and experience in choral rehearsal techniques and conducting

Interest, knowledge and successful experience in leading wide range of music styles, including traditonal,classical,folk, and spirituals

Ability to work effectively with diverse populations in a way that fosters recruitment, appreciation and retention of volunteer vocalists/musicians.

Effective interpersonal communication and leadership skills

Expectations::

Experienced accompanist

Responsibilities:

Organist/pianist will lead congregational singing, to accompany the choir, support worship services with appropriate musical offerings when choir not present.

One Service,Sunday,10:00 a.m. - Occasionally, but rarely play at 7:30 a.m. service

Practicing with the choir on Tuesday or Thursday at 6:00 p.m.

Accompany soloists as needed during summer months when choir is off.

Attend worship planning meetings as needed.

Responsible for music at special services and weddings and funerals(additional compensations)

Salary/Benefits: Commensurate with experience

Keyboard Instruments: Allen three manual Renaissance organ and new Kawai Digital piano
